High-street beauty has always been my favourite, and in my opinion, nowhere does drugstore beauty quite like the UK. It’s much more accessible and much cheaper (here’s looking at Boots’ 3 for 2). Since moving to Paris, I’ve found myself waiting for a trip back to the UK to pick up my drugstore favourites, or alternatively, given my boyfriend a looooooong list of things to bring out for me.

A usual Boots trip for me consists of a mad rush round the store, picking up the usual required products and not giving anything else a second look. On a random Boots trip in London, I decided to have a proper look through all the different beauty counters, and make the most of having every brand under one roof. It’s safe to say I had a lot of fun, as did my debit card, but there was one brand that truly stood out to me, and reminded me that you don’t have to spend a fortune to get the results you’ve been longing for.

I’d heard alot about NYX, but due to it not being easily accessible in France, and it not being stocked in my local Boots, it was never a brand that I’d ever looked at before. But, now that I’ve discovered it, I’m HOOOKED ! For me, this brand is the perfect balance between drugstore and high-end, and I’ve found some great alternatives to products I was planning on buying from Sephora.

NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette in Warm Neutrals

Having seen this featured in loads of 2016 Beauty Favourites, I thought I’d give it a try. I always choose the Naked Palettes, and as much as I love them, I wanted something drugstore that I could wear on a daily basis. This palette features 16 shadows, ranging from shimmer to matte finishes, which gives it a great all-round finish. They are all highly pigmented and a dream to blend, and if you like the warm tones, then this palette offers enough colours to create multiple looks.

NYX Tame & Frame Brow Pomade

This solid brow gel is honestly a dream. The Anastasia Beverly Hills version had been on my wishlist for ages, but I couldn’t bring myself to spend around £20 on a brow product, so I opted for the NYX version. It comes in a range of shades for all brow colours, and leaves the brows with a full, yet natural finish. I apply this in small strokes using the Real Techniques brow brush and I can’t get enough.

NYX Proof IT ! Eyeshadow Primer

A product I never deemed necessary, but is a lifesaver for long days out. It’s a little on the sticky side, therefore I’d recommend making sure you give it enough time to absorb before applying your eyeshadow.

NYX Vinyl Liquid Liner

The most fool-proof of eyeliners ! The super fine and flexible brush is perfect if you like a thin line, but also allows you to build up the drama with a flawless flick.

NYX Professional Contour Palette

I’ve never really been a huge fan of contouring, and have never been able to master the art of getting my face to look sculpted yet natural. I thought it was down to the product I was using, and thought that the ABH Contour Kit or the Kat Von D Shade & Light Palette, would be a solution to this problem. However, I knew that if I still couldn’t get on bored with it, then it was going to be a costy experiment. Once I saw this palette featured in Zoella’s drugstore haul, I picked it up to try for myself, and I love it.
The palette features 8 shades in total- 4 contour and 4 highlight, with both matte and shimmer options. The shades themselves are lovely, and would work well with most skintones, the only thing I would say is that you need to really sweep in your brush to pick up enough product.

NYX Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks

Probably the first NYX product I had ever heard of, and again a cheaper alternative to the ABH and Kat Von D liquid lipsticks that I had been eyeing up in Sephora. I picked up shades Ruffle Trim and Push-Up, which are both nude toned colours. Like with any liquid lipsticks, I’d recommend appyling some lip balm before as they can be quite drying, but they don’t leave your lips looking cracked which is a huge bonus.
